Kick Off Meeting of the European DIGITopen Project

We are pleased to inform you that the Italian Chamber of Commerce for France in Marseille (CCIFM) is the coordinator of a brand new Erasmus+ VET project, titled DIGITopen, which aims to support the digital transformation of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and association sector through the use of open source technologies.

Funded by the Erasmus+ France/Education and Training Agency, DIGITopen brings together five partners from Italy, Spain, Estonia, Poland and Greece, working together to coordinate crucial activities. The main goal is to create a more dynamic and open environment for new technologies within the beneficiary organizations.

The launch meeting of this exciting project was held in Marseille (France) on December 19 and 20. These two days were devoted to getting to know each other, laying the foundations for successful project management and implementation, and carrying out the first activities that will mark the start of a fruitful collaboration.

DIGITopen’s main initiatives include the development of a self-assessment tool (SAT), the creation of a toolbox aimed at membership organizations and Social Enterprises  SMEs, and the design of a training course in MOOC format, accessible free of charge. In addition, the project will provide guidelines to support the digital transition and facilitate the creation of a European network of organizations committed to the open source approach.

DIGITopen fits perfectly into the European Commission’s 2020-2023 open source strategy. More broadly, it responds to the transformation and digital education needs needed to strengthen the European society and economy.

We are confident that DIGITopen will play a crucial role in shaping a future in which SMEs and the voluntary sector fully embrace the opportunities offered by open source technologies. Stay tuned for regular updates on the project’s progress and opportunities for participation.
